About Shadow Engine

Shadow Engine is an independent, lightweight 3D game engine built from scratch using C# and OpenGL, designed to deliver visual depth and atmospheric rendering even on low-end hardware.

After a long journey of development and optimization, Version 1.0 is officially here!

Current Features:

  • Advanced Shadows: Cascaded Shadow Maps (CSM) implementation.
  • Post-Processing & Lighting: SSAO (Screen Space Ambient Occlusion), Simple SSGI (Screen Space Global Illumination), and Volumetric Light (God Rays).
  • Post-Effects: Bloom, Chromatic Aberration, Color Grading, and Vignette.
  • Built-in Scripting & AI: A custom script editor with an integrated AI Assistant to write game logic on the fly.
  • WinForms Interface: A lightweight, performance-friendly editor UI.
  • Bugs & Optimization: There are some known visual bugs and unoptimized code sections that I couldn’t finish in time for the v1.0 release. I am actively working on fixing them.
  • Physics & UI: Physics integration and UI components are still in active development and will be improved in future updates.
  • Updates: Regular patches will be deployed soon to improve hardware stability and rendering quality.

This project is currently a technology showcase. I would highly appreciate your feedback regarding performance, bug reports, and rendering quality. Please test different quality presets (Low, Medium, High) and let me know how it runs on your system!
